Tuscola & Saginaw Bay GP-35 385 rests at the Cadillac, MI engine house, 6/23/01.

I have been 'shooting' trains for over 30 years, I have lots and lots of original slides that are surplus to my needs.  Sometimes I shoot a single frame of a locomotive and never see that engine again.  Other times I shoot two or ten shots the first time I see an engine.  Then there are the locomotives that I see over and over again and shoot over and over again.  The best (or only) shot of a locomotive gets put into the catalog and is then scanned for printing.  The rest end up sorted by owner and stored away.  It's those slides that are up for sale on approval.

To purchase original slides on an approval basis, send an e-mail stating what road you are interested in.  I will check out my supply and let you know what I have that matches your interests.  You then tell me via e-mail which ones, if any, you'd like to see, and I'll send the ones you request.  If you like any, pay for them, return the slides you don't like.  Pretty simple.

Please note that I do not maintain a list of extra slides in my possession -- I just don't want the hassle of maintaining such a list.  You can use the catalog lists to get an idea of what I might have on hand to sell under my approval slide program.

Please be forewarned that I do not have extra shots of all of the photos listed in the catalog.  Repeat, I do not have extra shots of all of the photos listed in the catalog.

In addition, I have purchased slides from several individuals in the late seventies for duplication.  Since I only purchased single slides I do not have any extra slides for sale.  If the catalog listing for a particular slide does not have the initials RH (those are my initials if you haven't guessed) at the end of the listing to indicate that I took the picture, there is no chance that I have a slide of that locomotive for sale.  Repeat, if the initials RH do not appear in a photos description, I do not have extra slides of that locomotive, no way, no how.

In February of 2008 I began shooting still photographs using a digital camera.  To distinguish between film based originals and digital based originals I have begun using a colored order number.  Photos listed here with black order numbers are film based originals, while red order numbers are digital based originals.  There will be NO slides available for photographs with a red order number.

At the moment, approval slide prices are $1.00 each.  Repeat customers are eligible for discounts.

So let me know what you'd like to see, you have nothing to lose!

Here's a quick way to the catalogs.
